Larry Wright
Executive Pastor of Administration & Discipleship
Larry Wright joined the leadership team of FBP as Executive Pastor of Administration & Discipleship in October 2024.
Born into a military family, Larry spent much of his early life traveling, moving nine times before settling in his family's hometown of Burkburnett, Texas, where he graduated from high school as valedictorian. He went on to earn a degree in chemistry from Rice University, along with a commission as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
Larry served for seven years on active duty as a C-130 pilot, flying missions around the world. In 1994, he answered the call to occupational ministry, dedicating himself to service in the church. He earned a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
During his ministry, Larry has served in Baptist churches in North Carolina and Texas. His journey has also led him to serve in churches of other denominations, including First United Methodist Church of Allen and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Dallas.
Larry is married to Dr. Melynda Wright, who holds a doctorate in Education Administration from Texas A&M Commerce. She is currently teaching calculus at Ursuline Academy of Dallas. Together, they have four grown children and eleven grandchildren.
Larry’s heart for ministry is rooted in his calling to strengthen the local church through effective organization and administration. He believes that by fostering efficiency, he can empower the senior pastor to focus on his calling—casting vision, building relationships, and preaching the Word.
"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." —Matthew 6:33
