Zac Ressler - What's Your Story

by FBC Plano on May 22, 2025

In February of 2020, my wife Shaina was pregnant with our first son, Harvey, and the law firm I had been trying to build collapsed, then COVID hit, and no one was hiring. I wasn't able to find a job, and I was waiting tables just to slow the drain on what little savings Shaina and I had scraped together. A couple of weeks before Harvey was born, Shaina quit her job as well, and we were left with virtually no income and a baby who would be born any day.

Shaina had an unshakeable faith that everything was going to be fine. I didn't.

On June 11, 2020, Shaina brought my beautiful son into the world, and I was so overjoyed. But that night, I didn't know how I was going to support him and his mother. I didn't know how we were going to pay rent or put food on the table. I felt more alone the days after my son was born than I have ever felt in my life.

But FBC Plano showed up in a way that still humbles me to think about. We had so many people bringing us meals and gift cards, and diapers and formula that we didn't need to spend a single dollar on groceries for about a month after we brought Harvey home from the hospital. Some of the people who supported us didn't even know how bad our situation was, they just said that they felt moved to help us.

Two weeks after Harvey was born, I found a job that paid just enough for us to make ends meet.

I will never forget how God chose to answer my prayer for a job, only after He showed me how His people were there to care and support me and my family.
