Halfway There: Celebrating God's Faithfulness and Looking Ahead
For more than 170 years, First Baptist Plano has been a place where people encounter God, grow in faith, and find community. Every chapter of our story has been marked by His faithfulness. When our church relocated to George Bush Highway in 2021, it opened new opportunities to welcome people, disciple believers, and share the gospel throughout our growing community. That move was made possible through the generosity of God's people, but debt on our facility remains.
Today, we celebrate an important milestone in the From His Hand campaign: we're halfway there. Through your faithful generosity, $1.9 million has already been given toward our original $3 million goal. As we reflect on all God has provided, we are filled with gratitude—and reminded that the journey is not yet complete.
Why does this matter? In November 2026, the interest rate on our loan will adjust to current market rates, significantly increasing our monthly payments. By continuing to reduce our debt and positioning ourselves to refinance, we can free up resources for ministry rather than interest expenses. If the campaign reaches its goal, it is estimated that approximately $384,000 could be returned to ministry annually, with long-term savings totaling about $9.6 million over the life of the loan.
More than a debt-reduction effort, From His Hand is about strengthening our ability to fulfill the mission God has given us. Every dollar directed toward reducing debt creates greater capacity to welcome and disciple all people to faith in Jesus Christ. It allows us to invest more deeply in worship, missions, discipleship, children, students, senior adults, and the countless ways God is using First Baptist Plano to impact lives.
As we enter the second half of the campaign, our focus is simple: celebrate God's provision, listen for His leading, and faithfully respond. We are seeking $1.1 million in new commitments to complete this effort. Some may be called to revisit a previous commitment, while others may have an opportunity to participate for the first time. Whatever your role, we invite you to prayerfully ask, "What's My Part?"
We're halfway there and still living on a prayer—trusting God to provide for every step ahead. With gratitude for all He has done and confidence in all He will do, we look forward to the next chapter of our church's story as together we build a stronger foundation for ministry for generations to come.
