Considering Making a Bequest to FBC Plano?

 

Gifts to your church should be carefully considered as part of your overall financial and estate planning.  We strongly recommend that you consult an attorney in the preparation of your will and to supervise its execution so as to comply with the legal requirements of the State of Texas. 

Some Suggested Types of Bequests are:

  • Gifts to be used by First Baptist Church of Plano for the greatest need at the time the bequest is received.
  • Gifts to the Missions Endowment Fund, interest of which adds to the continuation of ongoing missions activities of First Baptist Church of Plano.  (Principle can only be spent with church approval.)
  • Gifts to the Property Endowment Fund, interest of which helps defray the ongoing needs of First Baptist Church of Plano’s buildings and properties.  (Principle can only be spent with church approval.)
  • Gifts for a specific purpose or to a specific ministry.

Possible Bequest Language

The following language may aid you and your attorney in preparing your bequest for the benefit of First Baptist Church of Plano:

I give, devise and bequeath to First Baptist Church of Plano, located at 1300 East 15th Street, Plano, Texas, a Texas non-profit corporation and organized in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas for the purpose of supporting First Baptist Church of Plano:

a. The sum of $______________.

b. The following described property: _____________________________.

…and/or…

c. _____% of the balance, residue and remainder of my estate.

Distributions from this bequest should be used:

a. To further the support of First Baptist Church of Plano.

b. To add to the First Baptist Church of Plano Missions Endowment Fund.

c. To add to the First Baptist Church of Plano Property Endowment Fund.

d. To provide support for the following specific purpose or specific ministry of First Baptist Church of Plano, _____________________________.

Please note that if you select a specific purpose for your gift, you may want to include the following sentence with your request:

“If Circumstances should change at some future time, rendering the original designated use of this bequeath impractical, unwise or inappropriate, then the church shall use the fund to further the objectives and purposes of First Baptist Church of Plano, giving consideration to my special interest as evidenced by the purpose described above.”
